COMPUSERVE UNVEILS NEW FEATURES FOR COMPUSERVE 2000 MEMBERS
Enhancements Include Greater Personalization, Updated Main Menu, and CompuServe Radio
Enhancements Strengthen Position as the Value Leader in Internet Access
COLUMBUS, OH, November 2, 2000 -- Today, CompuServe, the value leader in Internet access, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), announced the introduction of exciting, all new features designed to bring greater value and convenience to CompuServe 2000 and CompuServe 2000 Premier members.
The new layout of the CompuServe 2000 and CompuServe 2000 Premier Main Menu offers greater personalization, allowing for quick access to information and services that members care about most throughout the day, including stock quotes, top news and sports headlines, weather, and local city guides that can be customized so that they appear directly on the Main Menu when members sign-on.
Also new, members will be able to take advantage of the new CompuServe Radio feature, which offers 17 channels of popular music formats, directly from the Main Menu, which is powered by Spinner.com. Additionally, members can easily purchase the music they are listening to directly from the CompuServe Radio feature.
Other enhancements include: multiple stock portfolios -- 20 in total -- that can be customized by members in CompuServe's Personal Finance Channel (GO: Personal Finance); 20 megabytes of space per screen name for members who want to create homepages featuring audio, video or multi-media; a new People & Chat Channel; and a new Games Channel powered by EA.com (Electronic Arts).
"The new enhancements we are announcing today, together with our highly successful, ongoing consumer rebate programs and the upcoming roll-out of CompuServe 2000, Version 6.0, add up to the best Internet value anywhere," said Audrey Weil, CompuServe's General Manager. "We base our new features and functionality on member feedback, surveys and focus-group testing so that we continue to meet the needs of our value-conscious members."
These enhancements to CompuServe require no downloading or disk installation to be enjoyed. As of today, members will simply log on to find a new Main Menu, CompuServe Radio and other enhancements already in place. This Winter, CompuServe will also launch CompuServe 2000, Version 6.0, a new software upgrade which will include numerous innovative features including: expanded e-mail capabilities to make it easier to send and receive mail with links and pictures from anyone on the Internet; an auto-complete feature for e-mail addresses; an all-new, built-in audio and video player; improved Personal Filing Cabinet enhancements including the ability to sort, file and save/replace mail; and Shopping Assistant, a shopping tool which enables members to find the lowest prices on a desired item from among CompuServe's numerous partner retailers.
