I do not remember my password

If you have forgotten your password you will need to contact the Customer Service department of the appropriate service. For CompuServe members, you can find the appropriate contact information by clicking here.

Is my password entered correctly into my Virtual Key settings?

Test Virtual KeyYour password will never be displayed by Virtual Key, so the only way to verify if it is correctly entered is to try to access a site that requires a Virtual Key authentication. For CompuServe members, you can use the Test page (link to test) to verify that you have correctly entered your User ID and Password in the Virtual Key settings.

Note:  Use your CompuServe Member ID number when creating a Virtual Key account.

How do I change the password in my Virtual Key settings?

First, you need to be sure that you have changed your password on-line. Changing your Virtual Key settings will not change your account settings with your online service. For CompuServe members, you can GO PASSWORD on-line to change your current password.

Once you are sure you using the correct password, you can change it by opening the Virtual Key Accounts and Sites Manager

To change your Virtual Key password

  2. Point to the Virtual Key folder and click the Virtual Key Accounts and Sites icon.

Result: The Virtual Key Accounts and Sites dialog box displays.

  3. Click the Accounts tab and select the account you wish to update.

  4. Once the proper account is selected, click on the Change button.

Result: The Setup an Account dialog box displays.

  5. Type over the password currently entered (it will always display as a string of asterisks) to update your password!

  6. Click the Next and Finished buttons to save the changes.
