Report: Sounders' Morris signs 5-year deal
Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris has signed a five-year deal to remain with the team, The Athletic reported Thursday.
The contract reportedly averages around $1 million per season and the first three years are guaranteed.
Morris missed the entire 2018 campaign because of a torn ACL in his right knee. He suffered the injury during the Sounders' Round of 16 CONCACAF Champions League matchup against Salvadoran side Santa Tecla on Feb. 22.
Morris, 24, is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019 season.
Morris, a Seattle native, won 2016 MLS Rookie of the Year honors when he had 12 goals and four assists in 34 games. But he struggled in 2017 when he had just three goals and one assist in 23 games while being hindered by ankle and hamstring injuries.
The former Stanford star also has made 25 appearances for the United States Men's National Team. He has five goals and one assist.
