(FILES) A picture taken in Paris on May 26, 2016 shows the logo of BNP Paribas at the group's general meeting. The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) has requested that BNP Paribas, along with the children of Omar Bongo, the late President of Gabon, be brought before the Paris Criminal Court as part of an investigation into Gabonese assets acquired fraudulently in France, AFP learnt on July 27, 2026 from a judicial source. In total, the PNF is seeking the referral of 23 individuals and legal entities: five companies BNP Paribas and four property firms and 18 individuals, including the children of Omar Bongo, as well as the wife of the current President of the Congo, Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, and the former Miss France and actress Sonia Rolland, according to the same source.
