Kemisola Bolarinwa, founder of Nextwear Technology, poses with one of the formative prototypes of her smart bra in Abuja on March 5, 2026. Kemisola Bolarinwa is the founder of Nextwear Technologies. She developed a smart bra called EwaDx, designed to help detect early signs of breast cancer. The idea came from a personal experience with an aunt whom she lost to breast cancer in 2017. During hospital visits at the time she was exposed to painful realities other women go through to get diagnosed and treated. The first prototype was unveiled to the public in 2022, she attached sensors embedded in the bra, the system is designed to detect abnormalities such as breast lumps by measuring changes in blood flow associated with cancerous growth. Her aim is to make early detection more accessible, particularly for women in underserved communities who may have limited access to conventional screening equipment.
